How to Flirt Over Text (Without Being Creepy)
Good flirting is playful, warm and makes the other person feel good. Bad flirting makes them feel uncomfortable. The difference is mostly about attention and respect.
Compliment what they chose
Compliments about choices land better than comments about bodies: their style, a photo they took, their humour, their taste in music. "Your bio made me laugh" is a great start.
Tease lightly
Gentle, playful teasing about something harmless ("Pineapple on pizza? We might have a problem") creates fun tension. Keep it about small things, never insecurities.
Use emojis wisely
An occasional ๐ or ๐ adds tone. Too many can feel like a performance.
Read the response
- If they flirt back, keep the playful tone going.
- If replies get shorter or more formal, ease off.
- Never push after a "no" or a change of subject.
Lines not to cross
- Sexual comments early on, or unsolicited explicit messages or photos.
- Pressuring someone for photos.
- Comments about their body or appearance as the main topic.
Turn it into a plan
The best flirting leads somewhere. When it's going well, suggest a call or a coffee.
